Currently the State Government controlled QLD Electoral Commission is redrawing ward boundaries with the Brisbane City Council area .
There is a suggestion before the State Electoral Commission that Newstead be removed from Central Ward and placed with the boundary of Hamilton Ward. These suggestions are currently out for public consultation.
I’m not sure you would agree that there is a community of interest between your suburb and Pinkenba and Kalinga so I would encourage anyone who is concerned about this change to make a submission to the Electoral commission who have the final say.
There is no denying that Newstead and Teneriffe should have the one councillor. Placing Newstead into Hamilton Ward does not enhance the community but divides it.
Many of your work in Central – your children go to school in Central – you shop in and use the services of Central – so let’s #KeepNewsteadInCentral
