Vicki Launching Valley Fiesta

Line-up revealed for all-new Valley Fiesta

A jam-packed program of music and events, including nightly cabaret shows straight from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, will take over Fortitude Valley from 29 August to 2 September for Brisbane’s biggest street party.

Local Councillor Vicki Howard said Brisbane City Council’s revamped Valley Fiesta would welcome up to 65,000 fans to 48 local venues for a diverse line-up of music, theatre and cultural events put on by more than 500 performers.

Council is committed to creating more to see and do, and with critically-acclaimed shows, larger-than-life projections, flashmobs, laneway parties and inflatable art installations, the new-look Valley Fiesta is set to be one of the stand-out events on this year’s cultural calendar.

Valley Fiesta will once again provide a fantastic platform for Brisbane’s emerging creative talent, with Le Coup Cabaret nightly headline shows as well as live sets from Thelma Plum, Seaside, Sweater Curse and local favourites The Steele Syndicate, Gabriella Cohen and The Jensens.

This year’s Valley Fiesta will also feature immersive theatre, bringing The Ballad of Rosie Quinn to Fortitude Valley following a sold-out season at Anywhere Theatre Festival.

Brisbane is a vibrant New World City and Valley Fiesta also will celebrate the best of Queensland’s gaming industry with a showcase of locally-made video games.

The event will also feature a themed performance stage in Brunswick Street Mall and a special program of active events as part of Activity weekend.

Valley Fiesta has been showcasing the best of Brisbane’s cultural scene since launching in 1997, celebrating the work of local acts and showing just why our city is regarded as a great place to live, work and relax.

Valley Fiesta is one of more than 50,000 festivals, events and markets we help to deliver each year as part of our commitment to create more leisure and lifestyle opportunities.

“Council’s free Wi-Fi also means you’ll be able to share your Valley Fiesta experiences instantly, while the My Valley website can provide recommendations on the best places to eat, shop or play in the heart of our city’s iconic entertainment precinct.

Valley Fiesta will be held from 29 August through to 2 September, 2018. For the full Valley Fiesta program, visit www.myvalley.com.au/valley-fiesta-events or call Council on 3403 8888.
