Buses Brisbane Vicki Howard

Buses Brisbane Vicki HowardI am pleased to share some positive news for our Inner City community regarding bus services in the CBD.

Following advocacy from my office and feedback from local residents, I have been working with Brisbane City Council, Public Transport Services (PTS) and relevant transport agencies to improve access to Route 199 services in Adelaide Street near Macrossan Street .

I am delighted to advise that from 13 July 2026, all Route 199 services travelling southbound towards the city and on to our economic hubs at South Brisbane and West End will stop at Adelaide Street Stop 31 throughout the day, including during the morning peak period.

A Great Outcome Public Transport for Our Community and a critical part of the Schrinner Council’s commitment to keeping Brisbane moving as the city continues to grow.

Previously, services between approximately 7:00am and 9:00am bypassed this stop. Following representations from my office, transport authorities reviewed the arrangements and identified a solution.

This improvement has been made possible following the relocation of the stop and boarding point approximately 20 metres forward in 2025, increasing the stop’s capacity and improving overall network operations.

To ensure a smooth transition:

  • Passenger notices will be installed at Adelaide Street Stop 31 from late June.
  • Bus operators will receive detailed instructions ahead of the service change.
  • Transport staff will be on-site on the first day of operation to assist passengers and drivers.
  • Journey planning information will be updated to reflect the new stopping arrangements.

This is a great outcome for residents, workers and visitors who rely on public transport to move around our Inner City communities. It demonstrates what can be achieved by our team at City Hall when we work collaboratively with the Lord Mayor and the transport authorities to find practical solutions.
