Like me, you are probably a frequent public transport user. Our high frequency buses are significant connectors for our peninsula area – improving our public transport service is important to me and Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner.
As you will be aware, we are currently rejuvenating Adelaide Street for the turn-up-and-go Brisbane Metro, and I wanted to let you know there will be some bus stop changes from THIS weekend.
From Sunday 18 February 2024 the second stage of the major construction on Adelaide Street will commence until late 2024.
The next stage of construction will include:
- delivering a revitalised streetscape along Adelaide Street, in line with Brisbane City Council’s Adelaide Street Vision
- upgrading footpaths and bus stops, as well as
- new landscaping, street furniture and lighting, and
- overnight (7pm to 5am) changed pedestrian, traffic, and public transport conditions.
These works will be occurring out-of-hours to minimise the impact to businesses on Adelaide Street, pedestrians and public transport users.
All services will be maintained from alternative bus stops nearby on Adelaide Street between Albert Street and Edward Street during these times.
Thank you for your patience while we get this important work done to keep Brisbane’s public transport moving.
