DESCRIPTION:Climate Bloomberg Youth Grants \nBrisbane youth to take climate action with global Bloomberg backing \n  \nBrisbane’s youth leaders will soon be able to turn their bold climate ideas into real world action with the help of a $70\,000 ($50\,000 USD) initiative from one of the world’s most prestigious organisations. \n  \nBrisbane has officially been selected as one of just 300 cities worldwide to receive funding from Bloomberg Philanthropies under the Youth Climate Action Fund. \nThe global initiative will allow Brisbane residents aged 15 to 24 to unlocks grants of up to $7\,000 ($5\,000 USD) for research projects targeting practical sustainability solutions. \nWhat kind of projects could be funded? \n\nClimate education and awareness campaigns\nEnvironmental data mapping\nHeatwave response and climate resilience initiatives\nCommunity gardens and tree planting\nSustainable food and urban farming programs\nWaste reduction\, recycling and circular economy ideas\nWalking\, cycling and public transport initiatives\nYouth-led climate leadership and decision-making programs\n\nThe program aims to empower young people to step up\, build skills and deliver research-backed results that could make a difference across Brisbane. \nBrisbane is Australia’s lifestyle capital\, with the city’s parks and natural spaces part of the reason it was recently found to be the best place in the world to raise a family. \nThis is an investment in Brisbane’s future\, taking steps to becoming a more sustainable\, connected city that ensures residents can get home sooner and safer. \nCities that deliver strong outcomes may also be selected for a second round of funding\, giving successful applicants the chance to scale their impact even further. \nBloomberg Philanthropies – which invests billions globally across climate\, health\, education and innovation – is backing cities to put young leaders at the centre of climate action. \nApplications open 15 July 2026. \nBrisbane residents aged 15 to 24 are encouraged to learn more and apply via Council’s website. \n“Brisbane is proud to be one of 300 cities worldwide selected for the Youth Climate Action Fund\, backing practical\, youth-led ideas that tackle climate change and enhance our lifestyle. \n“I recently joined representatives from 45 cities at the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative\, where we worked to ensure cities like Brisbane can access more opportunities like this for our community. \n“Our young residents bring fresh thinking to local challenges and this program gives them the support to turn ideas into real outcomes. \n“Whether it’s planting more trees across our neighbourhoods\, reducing waste or encouraging more sustainable transport\, these projects will help improve our lifestyle and keep Brisbane moving as our city grows. \n“We’re excited to see the next generation step up with ideas that protect what makes Brisbane so special as we strengthen our city for the future.”
