Brunch spots, bar hops, picnic places and hidden spaces… all at the new, free Brisbane App

Brunch spots, bar hops, picnic places and hidden spaces… the best of Brisbane is at your fingertips with the launch of the new, free Brisbane App.

Unveiling the initiative alongside musician Amy Sheppard and Masterchef alumni Alana Lowes, Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the new Brisbane App will provide residents and visitors with a convenient way of navigating the best of Brisbane.

“Brisbane is blessed with so many great places to eat out, parks to play in or events to experience so we’ve put them all together into one convenient app,” Cr Schrinner said.

“Not only will the Brisbane App offer residents a better way of discovering new destinations and finding out what’s going on, it provides local business owners with a free way of promoting their business, which is important as we recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“As a parent of four, I’m always on the look for new ways to keep my kids entertained on the weekend and during school holidays and that’s exactly what you’ll find on the new app.”

The Brisbane App contains a number of key features including the ability to access and develop your own curated guides, detailed up-to-date ‘what’s on’ event listings and interactive maps that take the guesswork out of planning a night out.

“We’ve even enlisted a few famous local faces that have curated their own guides to Brisbane including Amy Sheppard, former Bronco Sam Thaiday and Alana Lowes while people can create their own for others to follow,” Cr Schrinner said.

To coincide with the launch of the Brisbane App, the Lord Mayor announced a two-week treasure hunt so people who download the app can snare free coffee, sweet treats and ice cream.

Cr Schrinner said Brisbane was Australia’s most small business friendly city and the app was about encouraging everyone who lives, visits or works in Brisbane to get out and support local businesses.

“People love to discover businesses that are highly rated by others and our app gives users the ability to share their favourite haunts by writing recommendations and sharing ‘likes’ with friends and family,” he said.

“The app remains open to new businesses, and by creating an account, they can tailor their listing, add photos, special deals and update their contact details, giving them the opportunity to be seen by thousands of potential customers.

“Businesses, particularly in the accommodation, events, tourism and hospitality industries, need our support and we are proud to deliver an app that puts local businesses front and centre.”

To celebrate the launch, a 14-day-long treasure hunt in partnership with Nova, will give residents the ultimate ‘choose your adventure’ treasure hunt to get locals discovering more of Brisbane’s best kept secrets!

A new Brisbane location will be revealed on air each day, and participants will be encouraged to download the Brisbane app and visit the hidden gem location for a chance to win that day’s treasure.
