Pink Floyd – The Dark Side of the Moon

The Great Gig in the Sky-dome: Pink Floyd comes to Brisbane planetarium in September

Brisbane music lovers and stargazers alike can journey around the universe with the Queensland exclusive of Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon Planetarium experience.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the show is one of the first to run across the country as part of the worldwide tour.

“While Brisbane has an amazing music and arts scene on the ground, this out-of-this-world experience is something new and exciting for the city,” Cr Schrinner said.

“To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd’s iconic album, The Dark Side of the Moon will be shown as a full-dome spatial experience in the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium.

“Thanks to Brisbane’s cutting-edge technology, residents and visitors can experience this exciting showcase that is taking the world by storm.

“Whether you’re a music fan or star lover, Pink Floyd’s music, paired with striking visuals of space in the unique setting of the Planetarium dome is a must-do experience.”

The 42-minute, immersive experience will feature breath-taking visuals and spectacular surround sound, bringing this legendary album to life as viewers fly through the solar system with a mixture of psychedelic art, space, and incredible music; all in reclined seating of the planetarium.

Cr Schrinner said the event premiere will add to the September fun during Brisbane’s busiest month.

“Between the spring weather change, the school holidays and the fantastic Brisbane Festival, September is the best time to be in Brisbane,” Cr Schrinner said.

“From free suburban concerts to public art installations and performances at city hall, music and art lovers across Brisbane will be spoilt for choice this month when it comes to fun and affordable activities.”

The Dark Side of the Moon Planetarium Experience are $16 and will commence sessions from Wednesday 6 September 2023, running till March 2024.
