Councillor Vicki Howard Welcomes the Return of the New Farm Queer Film Festival

I am delighted to once again support the New Farm Queer Film Festival as it returns to Brisbane, celebrating diverse stories, creative expression, and the power of cinema to bring communities together. The festival has grown into a significant cultural event in Central Ward, showcasing outstanding LGBTQIA+ films from Australia and around the world at the iconic New Farm Cinemas.

Brisbane’s strength lies in its diversity, and events such as the New Farm Queer Film Festival provide an important platform for voices and perspectives that enrich our city’s cultural life. Through thought-provoking films, engaging discussions, and shared experiences, the festival helps foster understanding, inclusion, and connection across our community.

I am particularly pleased to support the festival for another year by offering complimentary tickets through my office, helping more local residents experience the unique program on offer.

The festival continues to attract acclaimed international and Australian films, highlighting the important role independent cinemas play in Brisbane’s thriving arts and cultural sector.
