Riverwalk Maintenance Closures 2026
🚧 Keeping Brisbane Moving – New Farm Riverwalk Update
As part of the Lord Mayor’s and my ongoing commitment to maintaining Brisbane’s world‑class riverwalk network, essential servicing works will be carried out on the New Farm Riverwalk swing bridge.
🗓 Tuesday 14 April 2026
⏰ 7am–4pm (weather permitting)
What to expect:
- 🚶♂️🚴 Short, intermittent interruptions at the swing bridge between 10am–2pm
- 🔁 Clearly signed detours via Merthyr Rd, Moray St and the Bowen Terrace lift
- 👷 Council crews onsite to assist and keep everyone moving safely
- 🔊 Some noise during work hours for nearby residents
⚓ Planned swing bridge openings To support nearby revetment works, the swing bridge will open intermittently on:
- 15–17 April and 20–24 April
- ⏱ Between 9am–3pm, tide‑dependent, for up to 30 minutes at a time
These works ensure our riverwalk remains safe, reliable and enjoyable for locals and visitors alike.
