I am pleased to announce works to further enhance Wickham Park in Spring Hill will start in late April 2018, weather permitting.
This project forms part of the Wickham Park Precinct Plan, which aims to guide the improvement, maintenance and management of the parks, connecting spaces and heritage sites in the area, to meet the changing needs of the city, residents and visitors. As part of this plan, Council completed further improvement works in Wickham and Observatory Parks in 2017, which included the installation of lighting and removal of fencing to enhance safety and improve visibility for pedestrians and cyclists. Wickham Park upgrade – stage 2 aims to further enhance amenity in this iconic Brisbane park.
Upgrade works will include:
removing and replacing seating within the air raid shelter
creating a new large picnic setting area
improvements to the existing pathway that borders Wickham Terrace
new steps between Wickham Terrace and the park pathway
new seating walls located along the edge of the pathways
associated landscaping works.
Works are expected to be completed in late June 2018, weather permitting.
Construction will generally take place between 6am and 6pm Monday to Saturday, however some night works may be required. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience during this time. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption to the local community during this work.
During construction, the project area and carpark bordering Wickham Terrace and Albert Street will be fenced off. For your safety, please look for signage showing alternate routes through the park.
